A Glimpse of the Upcoming Week
Reading: The children will be reading The Jones Family Express which highlights the importance of family and the excitement of travel. Tested skills include comprehension and making inferences. We’ll also spend time reviewing characteristics of the plot and story elements. Comprehension and skills test will be on Thursday!
Spelling: Words this week feature the /ū/ /ü/ and /ů/ sounds. **The words this week are somewhat tricky, so I highly recommend additional time spent practicing and studying in order to memorize the correct spelling of these words! Spelling test will be on Thursday!
Writing: The students will be working on a descriptive writing piece that tells about a journey he/she has been on.
Language Arts: This week, the children will be learning about future tense verbs. Review of previously taught verbs (present, past, and irregular) will also be woven into instruction. Test will be on Thursday!
Math: We’ll begin a unit of study in geometry featuring lines, line segments, angles and polygons. Continuous review of multiplication & division skills, and multiple digit addition and subtraction will be ongoing throughout the remainder of the year in math as well. Math test will be on Monday - there will be some review problems/questions included in the test!
Social Studies: In Social Studies, we’ll review previously learned concepts related to Louisiana’s natural resources and will learn of conservation efforts that can help preserve our natural resources. Test on Thursday!
Science: Happily, we will return to the interesting topic of the water cycle in science this week. Water cycle test will take place next Tuesday! Additionally, we will engage in discussion and review of astronomy and the solar system as we anticipate our field trip to Stennis Space Center on Friday!
