Class NewsWeek of November 30 - December 4, 2009
Overview
 In Reading, we will discuss story structure and making predictions.In Language Arts, we will discuss verb-action words. We will continue identifying sentences and their parts. We will practice writing complete sentences. In Math, we will continue our unit on subtraction. Please practice math facts at home each night.In Social Living, we will begin our unit on Christmas and traditions around the world. We will be "going on a trip" around the world visiting many different countries and seeing how they celebrate the holiday season. Announcements
 Terrific Kids' Breakfast is Wednesday at 9:00 am in the cafeteria.Tuesday, December 15th, we will be having a "field trip" here on campus. Artists from Art Time will be coming to the school to give the students an art lesson. The students will be creating a piece of art that will be framed and wrapped for them to bring home. It really is a fun activity, and the children are all fascinated with their end product. The cost of the field trip is $10.00. Please send your child's money in ASAP, so we can get a count of the number of students participating. Next week, December 7-11, Reindeer Lane will be open for business. Be on the lookout for more information to come home about it. The First Grade Christmas program is Wednesday, December 16th at 1:30 pm in the gym. Please plan on joining us for lots of Christmas caroling!Thursday, December 10th is the next PTA meeting. It begins at 6:30 pm. Please join us for the evening.Reminders
 Chick-fil-A spirit night is Thursday, December 3rd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pmDomino's Pizza Night is Tuesday, December 8th. Close the kitchen and order pizza. Mention Lyon Elementary and we will receive part of the proceeds from this night!Snack Shack will be closed for the month of December. It will reopen in January.Behavior charts should be signed and returned each day. Homework binders and take home folders should be returned to school each day. Please check your child's homework every night to make sure that it is correct and neat. Thursday is our Library day. Remind your child to bring their library books to school on that day each week, so another book may be checked out. Monday and Tuesday are P.E. days. Be sure your child has the appropriate shoes for P.E. on those days. Tests will be given on Friday of this week.
