How often should I expect homework in math ?
The students will have some form of math homework each
night! It will be located in the homework section of the students
binder.
Why does my child not bring home his/her textbooks?
Your child does have math and science textbooks which he/she uses
in class each day. Because their backpacks are so heavy, they are
given everything that they need to be able to complete homework.
For example, in math they are give notes, with examples and
practice problems. If you are not sure how to help your child
with a particular problem that was assigned in class, refer to
the notes section of the binder. There you will find everything
that you need to help your child if your child has done HIS/HER
JOB and has taken good notes. If you find it is a problem, please
email me and let me know so that we can help your child get what
he/she needs. I will send home a textbook at a parent's request.
This request must be in writing, and the book must be returned at
the end of the year, or you will be required to pay for the book.
How are grades averaged in math class?
In math, daily work/binder/HOMEWORK check counts as 10% of the grade,
quizzes are 25%, tests are 45%, AND 9 WEEKS EXAM IS 20%. The majority of a student's
grades will be quizzes, with large tests being every few weeks.
This means that he/she may only have 2-3 tests in a 9 weeks so
he/she may need to study notes nightly and review missed quiz
questions to be better prepared for the test.
When are tests returned and where are they kept?
All tests are normally returned within 1 week. They
will be kept in the TEST section of their binder. Projects may take longer to grade.
How often do you give a test?
There is normally a quiz every week, and a test every 2 to 3
weeks in math class. TESTS/QUIZZES ARE ALWAYS ON A FRIDAY UNLESS ANNOUNCED
IN CLASS!
