About The Teacher

Welcome to First Grade! I would like to take this opportunity to
welcome you and your child to first grade. I am excited about the many
learning experiences we will share. I have high expectations for my class
and I will strive to bring out the best in your child.

I am originaly from St. Bernard Parish. Hurrricane Katrina brought my
family to the Northshore. I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education
from the University of New Orleans. I have been teaching for 31 years. This
is my sixth year teaching at MES. Prior to moving to St. Tammany, I was
employed by the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the St. Bernard Parish School
Board. I have been married for 32 years and am the proud mother of Donovan,
who attends the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Mrs. Carlin's Favorites:

Favorite Quotes
"If you can dream it, you can do it." (Walt Disney)

"Be the change you want to see in the world." (Gandhi)

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can
go" (T.S.Eliot)

Favorite Activities
I love being a wife and mom! I like to spend time with family and friends,
travel, read and work in my yard. I love antique shops, art galleries, street
fairs, streetcar rides, the French Quarter, road trips, new restaurants, the
New Orlean Saints and Tulane Baseball. Of course, my husband and I enjoy
trips to Lafayette to visit our son.

Favorite Foods
I love all food! However, gumbo, brownines, seafood and Italian food are my
favorites. I love a good chocolate snowball with perfect shaved ice!

Favorite Colors
I really don't have a favorite color, but my home is decorated in red (My
kitchen is painted red!!!!), shades of taupe and celery green.

Interesting Info about Mrs. Carlin:
Although I did not grow up on the Northshore, my parents have had a ranch
(and still do) on the Northshore since I was a little girl. I had the
wonderful opportunity growing up around cows, horses, and an occasional goat
and chickens.

Our Class Motto Is:

We can work together as a family and be there for each other.
