What does my child need to bring on the first day of school?

On the first day of school, your child should bring their tote
bag with their school supplies inside. You do NOT need to label
the supplies. Also, please send either a healthy snack or $.75
for your child to buy a snack. If you prefer to send a blanket
for your child to sleep with, make sure it is small enough to fit
in a gallon size Ziploc bag. Make sure that all money envelopes
and articles of clothing are labeled!

Can my child bring a blanket for rest time?

Yes, your child can bring a blanket. They must
fit comfortably into a gallon size Ziploc bag and stay at school
all week. I will send rest bags home on Friday to be washed and
returned to school on Monday. Please do not send an item that is
a neccessity at home for bedtime(it may get left at school
overnight)! Please do not send pillows because we have limited
space.

Are parents welcome to come and help in the classroom whenever they want?

Parents are always welcome in the classroom. There will be a
guest reader sign up sheet at open house for parents to sign up
to come in and read to the class. I also send out e-mails to try
to get volunteers for special activities that we do throughout
the year. If you would like to come in and help, let me know and
I will tell you when we need help!

What is the home folder?

The home folder should be sent to school daily with your child.
It should contain any notes or money envelopes that you send to
school. I will also put all school information in the folder to
come home to you. Please check the folder daily. Student work
that is in the folder can be kept at home unless is says "Sign
and return".

that the change has been made.

How do I set up a conference?

To schedule a conference, you must call the school office. The
conference calendar is kept in the office so that the secretaries
can arrange the dates and times for you.

Do the kindergarteners go on field trips?

We do take several field trips in kindergarten. Please be aware
that several of our trips involve limited space and seating, so
on those trips we will be allowed only a certain number of
chaperones. I'll try to make sure that everyone who wants to
chaperone gets that opportunity. The children LOVE having Mom
and Dad involved.

What do I need to know about naptime?

Kindergarteners have a nap time everyday. At the beginning of
the year, the children nap for 45-60 minutes. While many
children will fall asleep, I recognize that some will
not. "Naptime" is really more of a "rest time." Not all
children need to sleep midday at this age, but all need
rest, both physically and mentally, in order to make the most of
learning time in the afternoon.
