I hold a Batchelor of Science in Education with a major in Physics and a
minor in Mathematics. This will be my 10th year teaching. I have taught AP
Physics, AP Calculus, Honors Physics, Conceptual Physics, Astronomy, and
various math courses. Other jobs I have had include swiming instructor, life
guard, carpender, swimming pool repair, tow boat deckhand, and lanscaping/
nusery work. I have also worked writing support problems for college
textbooks. Currently, I am the President of The Little Tchefuncte River
Association, an organization committed to the protection and enhancement of
the Little Tchefuncte River Basin and surrounding environment. I am very
capable of teaching anyone who will put in the time to learn. I try to bring
aspects from my experiences into the lessons to teach real world applications
of physics.
Honors Physics is a math based physics course. Honors Physics utilizes
quantitative and complex conceptual approaches in the study of mechanics,
laws of thermodynamics, wave phenomena, electromagnetic radiation,
electricity and magnetism, and current applications of physics. Studies
include detailed investigations and applications to business, industry, and
technology. Mathematical skills involving advanced mathematics are used in
problem solving.
Physics has an emphasis on concepts over mathematics, although basic algebra
and geometry concepts are used throughout the course. The course will
emphasize physics and its use in everyday life.
