Ms. Donewar has taught high school for fourteen years, 11 years at
Mandeville High School, 1 year at Fontainebleau High School, and 2 years at
Franklinton High School. She presently teaches Civics and Law Studies
but has previously taught Business Law, Free Enterprise, Sociology, World
Geography, Criminal Law, Career Orientation, Psychology, and Environmental
Science. Ms. Donewar has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, with a minor
in Government with an emphasis on Pre-Law and an Alternate Certification in
Social Studies. Ms. Donewar was named as the 2009 Law League of Louisiana
Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Donewar has attended numerous Education Conferences and Institutes,
including American Bar Association Law Related Education, We the People,
Order in the Court, LEAP of the 21st Century, FORMAT, High Schools that
Work, Inspiration in Social Studies, Law and Civics Education, Newspaper
Education, Jump Start, only to name a few. She has worked to revamp the
Social Studies Block Curriculum for the East Baton Rouge Parish School
System. Ms. Donewar has served on the state and parish social studies
textbook
adoptions.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Donewar is currently the Senior class
sponsor. She is also teaching Civics, Law Studies, and Contemporary Issues
under the St. Tammany Parish Back a3 Virtual Academy and is a new teacher
LATAAP Mentor.
To produce active and productive citizens who have a complete understanding
of the foundation and role of government in the United States.
