About The Teacher

Cherie Ducote (Director/Teacher, Drama Club Sponsor) This is Ms. Ducote’s 
ninth year teaching in St. Tammany’s Talented Theatre Program, and her 
seventh year here at Mandeville High School.  She also serves as a teacher 
assessor for the Talented Theatre program.  Some of her favorite MHS 
theatrical endeavors include A Midsummer Night's Dream,  The Wizard of Oz, 
The Importance of Being Earnest, Steel Magnolias, I Wanna Go Home, Little 
Shop of Horrors and Grease. She also loves co-directing and producing the 
annual productions of Shakin’ Up Shakespeare and the TAP Student Film 
Festival for the Talented Arts Program. She has taught workshops on 
improvisation, Shakespeare, Theatre Games and Playwriting for the St. 
Tammany Talented Arts Program, LA State Thespian Conference, Girl Scouts of 
America, and at the International Thespian Conference in Lincoln Nebraska. 
When she's not at school, she enjoys singing, playwriting, acting and 
shopping. She holds an MFA in directing and a BA in Drama from the 
University of New Orleans, as well as ancillary certification in Theatre 
from the state of Louisiana.  She also teaches video teleconferencing 
theatre classes for talented theatre students around the state, for which 
she wrote the state curriculum. She has directed and performed in many 
theatres in the Greater New Orleans area, as well as at the Kennedy Center 
in Washington D.C. She loves her job and couldn't be prouder of the young 
people she is privileged to work with. And she really means that.

Mission For The Class

The mission of the talented theatre classes is to teach high school theatre 
students the skills needed to perform and produce quality theatre. The 
students will experience a well rounded curriculum which includes 
performance, literature, technical production and design, history, 
directing, analytical and critical thinking skill work.
