Unit Description

In this thematic unit on consequences, the students will understand how consequences come about and how they affect our lives. They will connect epic and other literature with personal experience to better understand life’s journeys. The primary focus will be reading and studying the epic and related literature, learning format for MLA research, and completing a research project.

 

Enduring Understandings

·     Every decision, including no decision, has a consequence.

·     Consequences are an unavoidable part of the human experience.

·     Consequences can promote positive or negative change.

 

Essential Questions

·        How can a person’s decisions change lives?

·        How is it possible for unfortunate consequences to occur despite good decisions?

·        How are the mistakes and struggles of life’s journey valuable to me?
