CLASSROOM RULES
Student may raise his or her hand if they have a question or statement. (Wait for the teacher to call on you).
No gum, food or drink in the classroom or at rehearsals and performances.
Bathroom pass used sparingly (SAIL CARDS)
You may drink only water in class.
You may ask permission to turn on and off the air conditioner. Otherwise (don't touch)
Follow the rules and regulations of MHS handbook.
Ask permission to play the piano.
Cell phones are not to be used in the classroom.

3rd Offence- Written up/Office
MAKE-UP WORK
Make-up test- given in class the next day if it is an excused absence.
No make-up test for unexcused absence.
Performances can not be made up and are only excused in case of an ermergency.
Students will receive a zero for performances or rehearsals missed without a excuse.
Projects are due on the date assigned during the class period. (Not by the end of the day)
CHORUS RESPONSIBILITIES
Every musician in every chorus assumes certain responsibilities simply by being a member. Unlike other classes, everything you do affects every other person in the ensemble, as well as how the public perceives the group. When you appear with the chorus, whether it is in rehearsal, in performance, or riding a bus, you are not longer identified by your name, but as part of the Mandeville High School Chorus. Do everything you can to earn the privilege of being a member of our organization. Make sure you know the exact dates, times, and places of future activities, exactly where and when you have to report, and what you are to wear.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance of rehearsals are important. You will receive a grade for each rehearsal and a zero for any unexcused rehearsals. Afternoon appointments for regular checkups with doctors, dentists, orthodontists, etc., are not excused absences. The only excused absences are for personal illness, death in the family, or emergency. Check the calendar and if there are any conflicts report them by the 2nd week of August. Any conflicts reported after the second week of August will be unexcused. Please check your calendar when scheduling appointments.
Peformances: Students will receive a test grade for every performance and will be graded on the following: Punctuality, presentation, uniform, memorization of parts and overall performance. Student will receive a zero for an unexcused absence from the performance.
Transportation:
All students are expected to ride the bus to and from field trip destinations . There will be a transportation (bus) fee for the hired bus drive and rental of the bus. Each student must have a signed permission slip from the parent in order to participate in all trips. District Honor and all state the parents will provide the transportation.
Individual Practice: Students should practice one half hour daily. Practice solfege, learn key signatures, rhythms as well as the music that we work on in class.
Uniforms:
Show pride in the uniform by wearing it in the correct manner. Students must be dressed in full uniform on campus and out in the public eye. This includes on and off the bus. ( Must have correct shoes, ties, earrings and no rollers in the hair please). Each student must pay for his or her own uniform.
Fundraising: All chorus students will participate in the fall fund-raising projects. Money earned will go to hiring the orchestra for Christmas and for purchasing music and equiptment throughout the year.
DISTRICT Honor Choir audition requirements:
Student must be a member of the high school chorus program.
Student must furnish a$10.00 audition fee by the second week of school.
Student must make arrangements for his/her own transportation to and from the audition and rehearsals/concert (if selected).
Solo and Ensemble Festival:
Cost for this event is as follows:
Solo: $10.00 and Ensemble$10.00
Press release form: The chorus is on television and in the newspaper often. Students and parents must sign the press release form given at the beginning of the school year.
Contract Agreement form: Students and parents must sign this form in order for their student to participate in the chorus department.
