Freshman Initiatives (Tutoring, FLOAT)
"FLOAT - Freshman Learning to Overcome Academic Tardiness" Freshman students who have missing or late non-absence related classwork work will be assigned an academic lunchtime detention called a FLOAT session. Students will be able to recover 50% of the total grade from the missed work by attending FLOAT. NO test grades may be made up during these sessions, only classwork that a student failed to turn in when s/he was present in class. Students will be given a card to have his/her parent sign acknowledging the FLOAT session to be served within 24 hours. Students may bring a lunch from home or may prearrange to have a cafeteria lunch bag waiting in the FLOAT room. This is an effort to allow students to develop good habits by completing and turning in classwork when it is due. |
