Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Mandeville High School Special Education Department, it is
my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we begin the
2010-2011 school year. To those students and parents who are new to MHS we
extend an especially warm welcome for an exciting and productive year in your
new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in
the activities of our school.
As I begin my first year as the special education coordinator, I want to work
diligently with parents and the faculty to create an atmosphere that promotes
a positive learning community with academic excellence, trust, respect, and
excellent communication. Working together as a team we will be able to
create a nurturing, disciplined, and challenging environment in which all
students can learn at optimum levels and become responsible members of
society.
Here is some helpful information for you:
Special Education Office Phone Number – 626-8703
My email address – amy.frey@stpsb.org
If you would like to be on the sped email list to receive information
throughout the year, please send me an email with your child’s name, grade
and your name.
Your child may have the same IEP authority teacher as last year. Freshmen
and new students will be assigned a teacher to act as IEP authority and will
be contacted by that teacher.
Please check your child’s class schedule on the first day of school to be
sure the correct classes are scheduled. It is very important that you keep
track of your child’s classes throughout high school to make sure all
necessary classes are taken. If you have any questions about the schedule,
please send me an email or call the sped office.
MHS website - http://mandevillehigh.stpsb.org/ Every teacher has a website
including class information and assignments which can be accessed through the
MHS website.
A great source of communication between you and your child’s teachers is
email. The teachers’ email addresses: firstname.lastname@stpsb.org It
would be a good idea to send an email to your child’s teachers to introduce
yourself and tell the teacher a little about your child. If you do not have
email, you may call the special education office to leave a message for a
teacher.
You may check your child’s grades by using STI home. If you don’t know your
child’s ID and PIN number for STI, contact the front office at 626-5225.
It is highly encouraged for the students to participate in some extra-
curricular activities. Many things are available including sports, service
organizations and several clubs. Look for club information on MHS website
under “Daily Announcements”.
Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions.
Sincerely,
Amy Frey
