Week of November 14 - 18
Students will visit the Book Fair this week. A list of activities include:
Monday, November 14 – Friday, November 18: Students can take a chance to win
posters that are on display at the Book Fair. The cost is a quarter (25¢)
per entry. Money collected will go toward our One for Books Campaign. The
money collected in the One for Books poster campaign will be used to purchase
books for nursing homes in Terrebonne Parish.
Students in grades 1-3 will be entered in a coloring contest. Students in
grades 4-7 will be entered in an art contest based on the Book Fair theme.
Grades 4-5 will make door hangers and grades 6-7 will make bookmarks. All
Pre-K and Kindergarten students can participate in a “Guessing Game.”
Monday, November 14: READ 100,000 – Students are challenged to help set a
school reading goal of 100,000 minutes by reading 30 minutes a day for 21
days. Students can turn in reading logs signed by a parent for random
drawings for a prize.
Tuesday, November 15: Our Online Book Fair opens. If family and friends
can’t make it to the in-school fair due to work schedules or living too far
away, they can now shop online. All of their purchases will ship to school
for free! The online fair will remain open until November 30, 2011.
Wednesday, November 16: 4-H Club will have a bake sale at afternoon recess
in front of the library. The cost is 50¢ per wrapped item. The money
collected for the bake sale will be used to support the “Hats Off For Cancer”
charity drive. If you purchase an item from the bake sale, you will receive
a ticket to play a “Guessing Game.” The winner from the “Guessing Game” will
receive a $10 gift certificate for the Book Fair.
Thursday, November 17: Contest Winner Day! The winners of our classroom
contests (guessing game, coloring, door hanger and bookmark contests) will be
announced and these students can come to the library to claim their prize.
Friday, November 18: GRANDS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD – Grandparents, parents
and guests have a chance to shop our Book Fair, and participate in the
Classroom Wish List program for our Grandparents Day Event. Grandparents
who visit the Book Fair will be asked to sign our guest list. Their name
will be entered into a drawing for a door prize.
