Library Policies

                Maria Immacolata Catholic School Library

Welcome to the MICS Library. The library is filled with books that can take
you on exciting adventures and teach you new things. All classes have
regularly scheduled periods for using the library. To ensure that everyone
has a chance to enjoy the library during their designated time, certain
rules must be followed.

Library Book Checkout Policies:

* Library books may be checked out for one (1) week and renewed, if
necessary. All books that are checked out must be brought to library
class. Books may be renewed up to six (6) times, unless someone else has
placed the book on hold.

* Students will not be allowed to have more than two (2) books checked out
at the same time, unless permission is granted by your homeroom teacher for
special projects.

* If a library book is lost or damaged, it must be paid for or replaced.
Damaged books will be accessed according to the shelf list price and the age
of the book. Students should check for damage to a book before leaving the
library and report any damage found to the librarian.

* If any overdue book is not returned within six (6) weeks, the librarian
will send a notice/bill to the parents informing them that the book is
presumed to be lost and must be paid for. When the book is paid for, a
receipt is sent home. If the book is later found, the student may return it
to the library for a refund.

Expectations:

* Students will enter/exit the library in a quiet and orderly fashion.

* Students will take proper care of library books or other borrowed material.

* Students will respect others at all times and will keep their hands,
feet, and other objects to themselves.

* Students will not bring food, candy, beverages or gum into the library.

* When class starts or when the librarian is giving instructions, students
should be in their assigned seat and attentive. During instruction or quiet
time, students will raise their hand and wait to be recognized to speak or
ask/answer a question.

* During group activities or when checking out books, use quiet voices. A
warning will be issued to the class/student if the noise is beyond an
acceptable level.

* Students should clean their work area before leaving and should not leave
books, paper, trash or personal materials in their seating area, table or
floor.
