Is it important to have materials for class?
Affirmative. It is critical to maintain the balance of the
classroom by being prepared on a daily basis. A student's participation
grade will reflect lack of materials.
What if homework is not submitted on time?
Submission of homework in a timely fashion is important for a student's
grade. Assignments must be done according to normal class
routine and to be turned in on time in the box upon entering. If
one is late submitting work, points will be deducted. If work
is not submitted by the third day (counting the due date as day
one), a "0" will be given.
Are Mr. Fryer's classes challenging?
Affirmative. Classes are designed to challenge one to think and
not simply accept all that is handed to you without question.
God has gifted each person with intellect and it is important to
utilize this gift to the best of each one's ability.
Is Mr. Fryer's teaching style relaxed and casual?
Negative. The instructor is primarily a lecturer; however, discussions on
pertinent topics is most important to help ensure that as full of
an understanding is had by students.
Is structure and organization important in Mr. Fryer's classes?
Affirmative (ad infinitum). The instructor is borderline OCD and structure is
critical to his happy state of mind. Students have three days to
learn the routine that will be utilized and implemented each and
every day with very little variance. Students are expected to
have materials and be ready to begin class when the instructor is!
What is the proper form for assignments?
If a student has forgotten the proper heading, a picture of it can be
found at the "Litterarum" tab. REMEMBER the following points:
1) use traditional blue/black ink or pencil, if typed 12 pt. TNR, DS with one inch margins;
2) use loose-leaf paper (or perforated paper torn cleanly);
3) DO NOT write the assignment or give a title (unless instructed
to the contrary); and
4) DO NOT write out the questions; incorporate the question into
you answer.
- - EXAMPLE: What color is the dog's coat? The color of the
dog's coat is brown. OR Brown is the color of the dog's coat.
For assignments, can one write on the back?
Depending on the assignment, permission is granted to write on the
back of the page. However, if instructed not to do so the following
must be done:
1) proper heading on the first page;
2) on subsequent pages, student's name on the right side of top line; and
3) pages MUST be stapled together
Are Mr. Fryer's tests comprehensive?
Affirmative. Information learned serves as foundation for later information.
Since this is the case, students are required to recall information from
previous chapters/discussions as questions on exams will repeat.
The final exam is comprehensive of the entire year (August - May).
