What does my child need to do to pass the fourth grade?

To pass the fourth grade your child needs to pass the academic
classes as well as the LEAP test. If your child fails the LEAP
but passes the academic classes, he/she may go to summer school
and take the LEAP test again. If your child passes the summer
LEAP he/she will pass on to the fifth grade. If your child fails
the academic classes, but passes the LEAP he/she will repeat
fourth grade. Summer school is not offered for academic
classes. If your child fails both the LEAP and the academic
classes he/she will be retained.

What does my child need to do to pass the LEAP test?

Your child will take four parts of the LEAP test, Math, ELA
(English Language Arts), Science, and Social Studies. Your child
must pass the Math and ELA parts of the test. The Science and
Social Studies parts can not pass or fail your child. The scores
for Science and Social Studies do effect our school score. There
are five scoring levels on the LEAP, Advanced (highest), Mastery,
Basic, Approaching Basic, and Unsatisfactory (lowest). The
minimum level your child needs to pass the LEAP is to score a
Basic or above on either Math or ELA and an Approaching Basic on
either Math or ELA. Your child cannot score two Approaching
Basics in ELA and Math. Your child cannot score Unsatsifactory
in ELA or Math. Our goal is to have all students score Basic and
above!
