Phonics and Reading Skills:

Review all letters and sounds (KELA-3-E1-28, 29 and 30)

Read and write short a, i, o, e, and u words (KELA-1E1-03(1)

Review high frequency words (KELA-1-E2-07c)

Identify words that have different beginning and ending sounds (KELA-1-E1-01 d,f)

Isolate beginning, middle, and ending sounds (KELA-1-E1-01 d,f,g)

Identify robust vocabulary words adventure, explore, tame, amazed, completely, jolt, dare, gleaming, splendid, cautiously, festival, disaster (KELA-4-E1-33 & 34)

Understand the difference between reality and fantasy (KELA-6-E2-13)

Identify main idea n a story (KELA-1-E4-08)

Listen to and respond to a story (KELA-7-E3-16)

Robust Vocabulary Words: Review these words 

adventure- something new you do that is exciting or dangerous

explore- you go to a place you have never been before to see what it is like

tame- making an animal do what you want

amazed- very surprised at something done or said

completely- totally or in every way

jolt- you shake or move something with hard force

dare- trying to get a person to do something scary or dangerous

gleaming- shiny and bright

splendid- wonderful and special

cautiously- careful staying away from danger

festival- a kind of celebration with different kinds of activities, foods, and decorations

disaster- something terrible that happens suddenly

Important Notes:

*No spelling test this week since kindergarten students will not be at school on Friday.

*Preschool and Kindergarten roundup will be Friday, May 6th.  No school for preschool and Kindergarten students.

 

* Book Fair ends May 9.  Please send money in envelope if your child is going to shop at the Book Fair.

 

*Kindergarten Graduation is Tuesday, May 17th at 6:00.
