Welcome students and families to the Pre-K class at Monterey High School. I
am very excited to be teaching again this year at at MHS. I have worked in
the Concordia Parish School System for six years teaching both Pre-K and
Kindergarten classes. My background in education includes a Master's Degree
from Northwestern State University and Specialization in Youth Development
from LSU.
Monterey High School is very important to my family. My husband, Joe, is an
alumni and volunteer coach for the girls' basketball and softball teams. Our
daughter, Ellen, is a junior at Monterey High School this year.
Our teaching assistant for the second year in Pre-K is Mrs. Mimi
Wickliffe. "Ms. Mimi" is a very important part of our class and works
cooperatively with Ms. Debbie to provide a variety of fun and educational
opportunities for the students. Ms. Mimi is a graduate of MHS and is married
to Dylan Wickliffe. They have two children at MHS, Katelin in the fifth
grade and Rachel in Kindergarten.
The opportunity to teach young children is a wonderful and challenging
experience in helping to mold their lives. One of my favorite quotes
concerning children is as follows:
"A child is... an island of curiosity surrounded by a sea of question marks."
