What are the computers like in the laptop lab?

The laptop computers are equipped with touch screen technology. The children
can select icons and draw with the touch of a finger. If you notice your
child touching your computer screen at home, he/she is probably just used to
our fun laptops here in the lab. The laptops also have headphones which the
children use to listen to the voices and sounds that prompt them as they
work.

How is the class able to learn computer functions with only one teacher?

The laptop lab is eqipped with a projector and a large screen. The teacher's
computer screen is also projected onto the screen. The children are able to
look at the teacher's screen and follow her lead as she navigates through
different screens. This enables the child to learn the laptop functions with
a personal guide.

How do the children spend the 30 minutes in class?

For the first 15 minutes the teacher leads the children through the concepts
which will be learned for the day while the children watch the screen. This
involves verbal as well as visual instruction. The last 15 minutes is used
for indivual work as the children put on the headphones and begin to use the
principles learned during the teacher instruction portion. As the children
work indivually, they are allowed to raise their hands if they need help.
