Please continue to encourage your child to write their name. The first
letter should be an upper case letter and the remaining letters lower case.
If they have mastered this, move on to their middle and last name. They can
also practice writing their address and phone number.
Also, please continue to focus on letter/sound recognition at home. This can
be done while riding in the car or shopping at Wal-Mart. For example, "What
letter does Wal-Mart start with? What sound does it make?" You may also
want to talk about beginning and ending sounds. For example, "What sound do
you hear at the beginning of the word Wal-Mart; what sound do you hear at the
end of the word?" Same concept for numbers. Go on a number search while
riding in the car. Make it a fun, and they'll never want to stop!
Last, but not least, please read to/with your child every day!!!
