Homework Reminders: Each night's homework is listed on the newsletter. It's
a good idea to take your child's newsletter out of the S.T.A.R. book on
Monday night and stick it on the fridge so you can look at it each evening
and make sure it all gets done. Lots of times, even though we go over
what's for homework in class, by the time students get home they have
forgotten. It is helpful to have something to look at.
Although I try to keep homework to what I feel is an age-appropriate amount,
sometimes additional studying will be required. For example, if your child
is struggling with spelling tests, more time will need to be spent preparing
for this subject.
Reading Logs: Monthly reading goals are set at 10 books a month. I do not
have enough books to send a different book home every night. If a book is
sent home two nights in row please allow your child to re-read it. This is
a great way to build fluency. After your child reads to you please be sure
to sign their reading log so that they get credit for each book read. If
students have books at home that they can read to you these can also be
recorded on the reading log. Any book that a student independently reads
can be recorded on the log.
Thanks so much!
