SCHEDULE OF CLASSES Unit 1: Ancient African Empires – An Overview Unit 2: Slavery in Colonies and the Nation Unit 3: The Civil War and Reconstruction Unit 4: The Impact of Industrialization and Urbanization on African Americans
Unit 5: The Unit 6: The Great Depression and World Wars I and II Unit 7: The Civil Rights Movement and Beyond
GRADING: Class attendance is important since each weekly test review is conducted on Wednesdays. Weekly tests will be given on Thursday. Each nine weeks grade will be determined as follows:
Eight weekly tests @ 100 points 800 points 1000-900 - A Completed homework assignments 100 points 899-800 – B End of the nine weeks exam 100 points 799-700 – C 1000 points 699-600 – D 599- 0 - F
BONUS: Participation in the Social Studies Fair will be counted as bonus points. Additionally, students who miss a test without a documented excuse, or who are not satisfied with a low test score may do a research project on a topic selected by Mr. Spurlock. |
