Daily:
Use a time clock to punch in and out, and participate in vocational activities in the PAES lab; work in the cafeteria, participate in daily flag activities, participate in FFA program, participate in everyday counts calendar math by identifying the date, day of the week, yesterday, today and tomorrow, convey information in terms of past, present and future identify 3 different ways to write the date, state the months of the year and days of the week, identify seasons of the year, identify # of tens and ones for the date, identify patterns, group and count by tens, fives and ones, discuss how many minutes are in an hour, read the minutes and hour hand, collect and record weather data, record the number for the days of school and show that amount in various ways using coins, identify coins and their value, identify signs and state where the may be seen and what they mean. Have students participate in current and daily news. Write paragraph on board and have students identify letters to be capitalized and correct punctuation. Have students transfer to personal journal and add 2 sentences.
Mondays:
-Use the Internet to locate a recipe and make a shopping list of supplies needed for cooking and class supplies. Have each student make their individual list and approximate the amount of money needed for their purchases. Have students count money and put in envelope for shopping.
Tuesdays:
-participate in cooking project, hygiene related activities by washing hands before cooking, follow written/picture directions to complete a task, follow safety rules, locate and gather appropriate number of materials, safely operate temperature controlled appliances, measure and pour ingredients, ask for assistance when needed, package items to sell for class fund raiser, identify ways to conserve water while washing and rinsing dishes. Participate in on campus vocational training activities through the use of the PAES lab.
Wednesdays:
Friday class activities- students will work on individual IEP objectives. Participate in group activities concerning current events, look at books as a leisure activity, listen to text and respond to comprehension questions, operate computer programs provided by assistive technology, provide personal information to complete a job application, create a letter to a peer or family member, address an envelope to mail a letter, relate personal experiences (who, what, when, where), respond appropriately to signs and words in the context of an activity, enter dollar amounts from ads into a calculator and compute sum, add and subtract within context of activity, use a map to locate information and operate classroom electronics.
English/Language Arts
This month our High School Unit is "Born in the U.S.A."
The students will:
Read Adapted Literacy Books: "Founding of America (1492-1791)", and answer literal and evaluative questions. After reading this students will participate in the Mix-It-Up Lunch Activity.
Apply words in the context of a topic &Recall and Summarize
After reading "A New Country" and "Moving West (1815-1855)", students will answer comprehension questions and participate in We Are The Same & On The Map Activities.
After reading "American Civil War (1855-1870)" students will, students will answer comprehension questions and cook an "All American Meal.".
After reading "America Grows", students will answer comprehension questions and participate in What Is Discrimination Activity.
After reading "Modern America (1925-Present)", students will discuss American Inventions.
After reading "Everyone Counts!" students will answer comprehension questions and answer Survey Questions.
Students will participate in a vocabulary quiz game called "American History".
Students will complete a poem titled "America the Beautiful by adding a descriptive word to each sentence. The will also write a personal history about themselves by completing a preprinted form.
Students will do journal writing, complete a timeline and participate in a science experiment each month.
Each week students will create a grocery list for our shopping trip to the store. Students will fill out calendarsfor CBE activities.
Students will write about what they have learned during each unit and create class newsletter.

Students will read the following adapted literacy books, answer comprehension questions anddiscuss their experiences. Following each story students will participate in activities such as "What's in My Wallet?" Students will participate in a problem solving game called "Have Fun, Be Smart!"Students will complete our monthly Money Matters activities: They will read their bills and record the due date on their calendar; record their paychecks in their check register and check for any bills due every day; Make payments by writing checks, addressing envelopes for each bill and recording in the check register as needed; Students get practice signing name, writing amounts andfilling in the date with this activity. Also students participate in TimeMatters activities which teaches them how to match time to specific activities.The students will read a segment of 3-Way Planning (managing the use of money in real-world situations)
Students participate in job exploration activities using the Internet, and practice completing job interest surveys and basic applications.
Students will create a Transition Passport portfolio which they will use as a vocational guide and reference after graduation from high school.
Math
