19 OCT 09

LCDR Marks and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and
cadets who have come out and assisted in this years fund raising efforts.
There are still 2 home games left and these will be big ones, First
Homecoming versus East Jefferson on 30 OCT and our home final against Salmen
on 6 Nov, we hope that all of you that are available will come out and
support the unit and program.
The Washington,D.C. trip is tracking right along and your cadets are showing
enthusiasim for this activity. We will be setting a date to meet with all
parents of cadets that are going on this trip to finalize all paperwork
requirements. One change is that as long as your cadet is under the age of 18
a school ID will suffice for travel.
That is all for now and as always it is a pleasure to be able to work with
your sons and daughters in JROTC.

Very respectfully,
Chief

O.K. here we go. Update - Update - Update

CONCESSIONS:
All cadets have been given the sign up sheets and were instructed that unless
they are participating in games (Band, Cheer, Dance, Flag, Player) they need
to work at least one game. This is how we keep the cost of trips low. We are
asking that all parents please sign up to help as well. This venture earns
JROTC a large amount of our support funds. Please contact us at 863-5991 or
our parent support coordinators, Ms.Tina Herrington @707-5136 or Ms.Stefanie
Montoya @788-4472 for additional information or to sign up to assist.
Remember our first game is Friday September 11, 2009 so make your calls soon.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
Tickets are bought, reservations are made. At this time I need to update some
information you need for travel.
1. Students will need picture ID (military or state issue) school ID will not
suffice for TSA.
2. Students MUST complete and turn in all paper work given the first week of
school (physical, Health Screening Questionaire, Standard Release Form) in
order to attend trip.
3. We will be scheduling a meeting some time in early Oct to have parents
come in and sign necessary paperwork and have it Notarized.
4. Payment schedule is as follows. Minimum payments of $100.00 due 7September
and 7October and a Final payment of $75.00 due on 7November.

25 August 2009
Well we are well underway with training. This week we will begin issuing
uniforms to all our new cadets and refitting upper classpersons with
replacements.
We started this years curriculum with the lessons in Leadership and
Followership. These traits are important for returning as well as new cadets
in forming attitudes toward job and task performance. To date all cadets seem
to be enjoying and understanding this importance.

Planning for the Washington trip continues and LCDR Marks and myself wish to
thank you and your cadets for their enthusiasim in this venture. There are 47
cadets signed up for this trip with one cadet on a standby list in case
someone drops out. We will keep you updated as time gets close.

Football season for us starts Friday, 11 Sept 09, with a game against West
Felciana High School. We have the ability to hit the ground running again. Be
watching for requests for assistance from our Parental Support Leaders.

Other items in the works for this semester include a trip to Tulane
University, with visit to a college level Naval Science course and a visit to
either the U.S. Coast Guard Station on Lakefront or Gulfport, where cadets
will have the opportunity to see and feel the workings of our defense
equipment.

As always, Thank you for the opportunity to work with your cadet and if you
have any questions please feel free to contact me.

4 August 2009,
AS WAS SAID IN THE OLD SITCOM
WELCOME BACK - WELCOME BACK - WELCOME BACK AND TO THE NEW STUDENTS WELCOME TO
JROTC!!!!!

We have had a very busy summer getting prepared for the upcoming year.
Everything from new carpet and decor, a very successful drill clinic, and
helping around the campus getting it ready for all students to return.

Preparation for Washington trip has progressed. Tickets have been bought,
rooms at Andrews AFB have been secured and transportation while in the D.C.
area has been obtained. Cadets have and will be given a letter explaining the
cost and setting out the payment schedule. We currently have 35 cadets signed
up and will take other personnel on a standby basis, as we may have some that
cancel.

We have been given the management of Football and lunch time concessions
again this year. These events have proven to be very good for financial
support of the unit. We will be contacting all parents to help in support of
the Friday night games.

LCDR Marks and myself will be talking to the cadets about the requirements
that have to be met as a member of JROTC and will be sending out updates as
we cover these items.

Again, welcome to all the new cadets and thier families and welcome back to
all those returning.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
