Always do your best. 6. Follow all PRHS rules. 7. Have fun and learn. Rewards • Verbal praise and recognition • Positive contact with parents • Free homework reward coupons • Other appropriate recognition Daily Routine Students should be in their desk ready to begin work when the tardy bell rings. Students should have their completed homework assignment from the previous day on their desk and they should begin the daily warm up exercises while their homework is being checked. Passes Each student will receive 3 passes each 9 weeks. Please save these passes and use them only when absolutely necessary. Rewards are offered to students who turn in their unused passes at the end of each 9 weeks. Assignments Assignments are an essential part of the learning process. Assignments will be assigned 3-4 times per week to reinforce what has been taught in class. Students should attempt each problem they are assigned to indicate that an effort was made to complete the assignment. When assignments are being reviewed in class, it is the student’s responsibility to make the necessary corrections to their assignments. Assignments will be posted daily for each class period. Students are expected to copy the assignment onto their assignment sheet. Students and parents can also access my web site to get the required assignments. NOTE: The most accurate assignment posting will always be in the classroom, so get the assignment there if at all possible. My web address is http://TeacherWeb.com/LA/PearlRiverHighSchool/alanjones. An assignment sheet will be given to each student each nine weeks. Homework will be stamped by the teacher indicating if the work was complete, incomplete, or if no attempt was made. Each Friday, a weekly assignment grade will be given. NOTE: Any student who has an incomplete assignment will have the opportunity complete the assignment provided that it is completed by Friday of that week, when the weekly assignment grade is given. If the homework is NOT completed by Friday, then the student will receive no credit for that day’s assignment. In addition, if a student receives no attempt on an assignment, the student will NOT receive credit for the assignment even if it is made up by the end of the week. Quizzes Quizzes will be given regularly, mostly unannounced, to check the student’s understanding of the given concepts. It is vital that students review their class work even if no assignment was given. Tests Test will be given frequently and students are encouraged to study by practicing problems that were assigned during a particular unit to assure test readiness. A test review will always be provided. *At the end of each nine-week period, a special open notebook test will be given. The problems from this test will come directly from prior homework assignments. Students will be required to look through their previous homework assignments and provide the answers to the given questions. If the student has corrected his/her asignment every day in class, then the student should perform rather well on the test. On the other hand, if the student chooses not to make the necessary corrections, then his/her performance on this test will be rather poor. Because this test is a gift test, there will be no other opportunities for extra credit during the nine-week period. Absences While I understand that students may be absent at times, I want to make it clear that students are still responsible for making up any missed assignments in a timely fashion. Students should check with another classmate to get the assignment or they may access my web page for the assignment, http://TeacherWeb.com/LA/PearlRiverHighSchool/alanjones. Contacting the Teacher I can be reached via phone during 4th period (10:28-11:21). I can also be reached via email at alan.jones@stpsb.org or you can contact me using my teacher web page, http://TeacherWeb.com/LA/PearlRiverHighSchool/alanjones
