Weekly Overview

February 6, 2012

We are beginning a unit of study of Louisiana!  We will learn about our great state, our special customs, and our state symbols!

We will review all letters and sounds this week. We will review all high frequency words and focus on the words: play, for, you, are.

Our math focus will be money.

Kindergarten’s Mardi Gras Ball will be Wednesday, February 15 at 9:30 in the gym. Children wear Sunday clothes and all are Maids and Dukes. Please contact Amy Carrick for more information.

Friday, February 17 at 2:00 is the PES parade. Amy Carrick will be sending information about the parade! Family and friends are invited and parking is tricky so come early.

 Dates to Remember:

Wednesday, Feb. 15: Kindergarten Mardi Gras Ball at 9:30am Friday, Feb. 17:  PES Mardi Gras Parade at 2pm
Feb. 20-24: No School; Mardi Gras Holiday
2/8: PTA General Meeting 6:30 in gym (Please try to come! Great things can happen for our children with your input!)

April 14- SPRING FLING!!

Reading Tip

Say tongue twisters.  Tongue twisters are a fun way to practice sounds. Let your child tell you the story. Many children memorize stories they’ve heard many times. Let your child take a turn “reading” the book to you.
