Dear Families of Mrs. Lancaster's Kindergarten Class, 2/13/12
WHAT WE'RE DOING:
THEME: seasons and weather, good citizens are good friends
# work: sequencing: patterns, days of the week, seasons; discussing and exploring numbers: counting, matching, number sequence.
I think I can: week 3. Have fun and send the assignments in when completed. I will accept completed assignments on Fridays or Mondays. Past due assignments are welcome at any time.
Word work: Ll: review, reinforce letter recognition & sounds, alphabetic sequence
Sight words and phonics new for this unit: Ee, Bb, Ll; this, do and, what
FUTURE EVENTS:
M. 2/13: please send Valentines. We'll deliver Tuesday 2/14 after our special centers. Treats may be attached and are welcome. You and your child may print the first name of each child or use the attached list to cut and paste.

W. 2/15: 9:30 kindergarten maids and dukes presented(all Kdg. students) in the gym
F. 2/17: 2pm Mardi Gras parade @ 2pm. Plan to arrive early for a good viewing spot. After the parade, you maycheck your child out in the classroom to get home before all the Orpheus traffic. Please don't come by before the parade as we'll be busy getting ready.
Kindergarten is at the first of the parade and to expedite the flow of the parade, we do no throw beads. They're too tricky.
Thanks to Mason's Mom, Lora, we'll have plastic sheriff badges for each child to hand out on the parade route.
There is no ASC on parade days. If your child attends and will be staying after the parade, please send a note concerning your child's "go home" transportation.
M. 2/20-F. 2/24: Mardi Gras Holidays
HELP WANTED: Skills to practice over the holidays ( and before:)
Zipping, buttoning coats and outer garments; taking outer garments off with sleeves right side out.
Tying shoes: tying shoes is a 6yr. old skill. Please help your child learn this useful and helpful skill. Currently we have only 2 resident shoe tiers.
Slip-on shoes: continue to be very helpful and useful, especially the type with limited Velcro to rip.
Light up shoes: continue to ve very distracting at school.
