Unit Description: ABSTRACT TO NON-OBJECTIVE SERIES

Essential Questions: how are objects used as subject matter in abstract and non-objective work?

Resources/Materials: both 2 & 3-d materials of choice

Objectives:

Use a series of steps in reducing a chosen subject matter to abstract and non-objective states

Student Learning Activities:

Reference chosen subject for ideas that represent the basic elements creating that image. Begin experimenting with designs that reduce the image through a series of progressive steps using a variety of media.

Create three pieces (in addition to original two already completed) that use the following choices in any combination; two 2-d pieces, one 3-d piece, one extreme close-up, one miniature, one acrylic painting, one collage, two abstract, one non-objective.
