Students are to know and follow the St. Tammany Parish and Salmen High
School rules, regulations, and procedures set forth in the Parish
handbook and the Salmen agenda book.
Students are to come to class prepared every day for classwork. All
supplies identified by the teacher are to accompany the student each
day in addition to any homework and/or preparatory work.
Students are expected to learn and follow procedures and guidelines set
forth by the teacher to establish and maintain an effective, safe, and
pleasant learning environment for all students.
It is the responsibility of each student to take notes during class and from
assigned resource material, such as the text, internet, etc.
Students are to engage in a two-phase study approach daily: complete class
and homework assignments AND study all notes and material to develop a
richer understanding of science and the connections between all subjects
within the discipline. This approach provides students with the background
necessary to be more critical thinkers and more aggressive problem solvers.
Students are to use agenda books and/or notebooks to record assignment and
test requirements and submission dates. Failure to make such notations or
to read them is not grounds for extending assignment or test dates.
All work is to be turned in on or before the last submission date.
All classwork and tests are to be made up within two days of returning to
class after an excused absence. Extended illnesses necessitate a meeting
between the student, parent(s), and teacher in order to establish a schedule
for make-up work and tests.
Because course material is taught and learned over a week or more, a one-day
absence before an assignment submission date or a test date is not grounds
for not having the assignment or for not taking the assigned test.
