From the Coordinator

Dear Parents and Guardians

Last week was very busy here at Salmen. We hosted another Transition
Leadership Team Meeting with parents, teachers, administrators, and students
from St. Tammany Jr. and Boyet Jr. High schools on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we
traveled to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans for the first incentive field trip
for students who met the requirements for academics and discipline.

Thanks to our dedicated teachers, we won the award for the best float and
hall decorations during homecoming week. Progress reports were sent home
Friday for parent signatures and students were treated to a blow pop for
making good grades. 8th Grade Night will be rescheduled later during the
year due to conflicts with Halloween activities at the feeder schools.

If your child is having academic problems, please encourage him/her to take
advantage of our "Homework Center" in the library. It is open before school
and until 3:15 after school. Student tutors are available, as well as
adults. They can use the computer and printer if they need it, and it is a
great place to get away to prepare for tests. Don't forget that teachers
also provide tutoring for the students and have posted tutoring hours on
their classroom doors for students who need academic assistance. The
teachers are more than happy to meet with them before and after school.

If you have any comments or concerns regarding your child's
progress, you can contact your child's teachers by email or me at 985-649-
8166, Ext. 226.

Sincerely

Lisa Semere
