About The Teacher

Hello to all! Welcome to my web page. My name is Anne Baird. This year is
my eleventh year of teaching, all of which have been here at Salmen. I
graduated from Salmen in 1991. My high school years were some of the best
years of my life! My teachers, administrators, and friends that I had while
I was a student had such a profound impact on my life, that once I began my
teaching career I knew there was no place else I wanted to teach!
I started college at USM on scholarship to pursue a nursing
career. However, I transferred to Southeastern the next year. I changed my
major to secondary math education only having 3 semesters of nursing school
left. Every day I know I made the right decision by changing my major. I
absolutely love to teach! My students are the absolute best part of my job.
I find myself back at Southeastern, this time as a graduate student.
I am in the process of working on getting my masters degree in counseling.
Finally, I would love to share with you all that I am a proud parent of
my nine-year-old son, Blake. He is my pride and joy! He's in third grade
at Abney and like his mama; loves school!

Mission For The Class

Every year, I am asked at least 10 times, "Why do I have to learn
this? Will I ever use it in the real-world?" My mission is to have my
students make the math connection with everyday experiences. I want them to
realize that they DO need math to survive in the real-world. I would also
love for them to absorb my enthusiasm for this subject and see that math
really is FUN!
