9th Grade Academy Classroom Rules
1. You must have YOUR agenda book with you at all times.
2. Your agenda book will be used as your hallway passport.
3. Dress Code will be strictly enforced.
4. Make Up Work will only be accepted for EXCUSED absences.
5. Make Up Work must be completed within 5 school days of return to school
after absence at teacher discretion.
6. Late Work will NOT be accepted. This will be enforced for all major
projects and papers where due dates were set far in advance.
7. No torn out spiral notebook paper will be accepted.
8. Final Papers must be submitted in black or blue ink.
9. Use restroom while changing classes.
10. Be respectful to classmates, teacher, and school property.
11. Bring supplies to class every day.
12. All school rules apply in every classroom.

Salmen High Procedures

I. Hallways

  1. Walk in the halls at all times.
  2. Remain quiet while walking or waiting in the halls.
  3. Walk directly to your destination.
  4. Do not stand in the hallways and socialize.
  5. If you have been given permission to leave class, you must have your signed agenda book.

II. Restrooms

  1. Please flush the toilet before leaving.
  2. Throw paper towels in the trash can.
  3. Wash hands.
  4. No cell phones are to be used in the restroom.
  5. Report any vandalism to your teachers. 

III. School Grounds

  1. Use the trash cans.
  2. Do not pick flowers.
  3. Be courteous to everyone.
  4. No one will re-enter the building unless radioed in by the duty teacher. Those students will go straight to the office.
  5. Follow restroom procedures for the outside restrooms.
  6. TABLES and BENCHES- No standing on them at any time.                                                                                                          

IV. Before School Procedures

  1. Students who eat breakfast at school need to go directly to the cafeteria.
  2. The library will be open at 7:10.
  3. You must have a pass from a teacher or be accompanied by an adult to enter the hallways before school.
  4. Once you have arrived on campus, you must stay on campus.
  5. Students are to report to the picnic table area before school.
  6. Students are not to stay in parked cars or in student parking lot.

 

 

 

Spartan Pride Club

  • To promote a positive school-wide atmosphere at Salmen High School, the “Spartan Pride Club” is being implemented. The 9th grade student body will participate in this program. In order to qualify for the “Spartan Pride Club”, the following criteria must be met on a quarterly basis.  
  • All assignments must be completed in a timely manner
  • No behavior reports, detentions, or office referrals
  • Must maintain EXCELLENT behavior on weekly conduct report  in class

 

Outstanding Spartans

  • Teachers should submit Outstanding Spartan forms of students who have gone above and beyond for the week to Mrs. Rich at the Friday Team Meeting.  Mrs. Rich will call home commending that student for good behavior. The Team members will vote on one student to receive the weekly Outstanding Spartan Award. This student will be highlighted on the morning announcements and on the Spartan Pride Club Hall of Fame bulletin board.

 

Outstanding Spartan or Student of the Month is meant to recognize students who demonstrate great academic achievement along with exceptional participation in school activities and who contribute positively to our school community.

 

 

 


 

 

All students are expected to arrive to school in a timely manner.  Students should take into consideration distance traveled and traffic patterns in making his/her decision on the time best to leave home.  Students who arrive after the first hour tardy bell but before 7:45 will report to 1st period. Students arriving after 7:45 must report to the Attendance Office to check in.

  • Students will receive 3 "free" tardies to school per semester regardless of the reason.  Excused or not excused will not be determined and no consequence will be given.
  • On the 4th tardy to school for the semester, the student will receive a Saturday detention.
  • Upon missing a scheduled Saturday detention, the student will be assigned to an in-house suspension. 
  • On the 5th and 6th tardy to school for the semester, the student will receive an in-school suspension.
  • Students will be suspended for each tardy after the 6th tardy in the semester.


 

All students at Salmen High are expected to abide by the dress code policies set forth by the St. Tammany Parish School Board.  In addition to these policies, Salmen High School has a school uniform that must be worn by all students.  Specific uniform information can be found in the SHS Student Handbook.  The following consequences will occur for dress code violations:

1st- Warning and Correct Violation; Parent Notification

2nd – Detention and Correct Violation; Parent Notification

3rd- 1 Day Suspension

4th- 2 or 3 Day Suspension

 

**Any violation that can't be fixed at that moment will result in the student being placed in ISS for the remainder of the day or until the correction is made**

 

100 point system

  1. 10 points for actively participating in extra-curricular
  2. 30 grades
  3. 30 behavior
  4. 30 points attendance

9 points – 2 infractions

0 points- 3 or more infractions

  • In-house or Out of School Suspensions= no incentives/ ineligible

10 points- 2 D’s, 5 A, B, or C

0 points- 3 or more D’s

  • Final F’s= no incentives/ ineligible

30 points- 0 excused absences

20 points-1 excused absence

9 points – 2 excused absences

0 points- 3 or more excused absences

  • Unexcused absences= no incentives/ ineligible
