Dear Parents- For the week of Feb. 13-17 the three week unit is Weather and this week theme is. The sight words are I, can, me, the, like, a, see, go, to, have, is, play, are, for, you and introducing this and do. The letters are m, a, s, p, t, i, n, c, o, h, d, r and introducing e We will recognize the letter, sound, and words that begin, are in the middle, and end with the letter. We will identify the date and count to it. We will identify the number of total days we have been in school.
You can help your child by showing the alphabet to them and review the letters and sounds. Have them count to see how high they can go, then tell them the next number. Show them two digit numbers and discuss what the numbers mean. Read to your child. Have them retell the story. In a book, find and read the sight words together. Have them find the letters we have learned and discuss the sounds in the word. Help your child learn their birthday, phone number, and address. Talk with them about rhyming words, the beginning sounds they hear in words, and say all the sounds in a simple three letter word.
Homework- (1) Write your name the way you do in school, first and last name. (2) Write three words that start with e. (3) Write two sentences with the words this and do in it. (4) What shape is a cereal box? Write two more things that have the same shape. Homework is to be done with the parents. Homework is due on Friday. Do a little each day. Homework can be written on the back of this paper.
Fun Friday is an extra recess for those that keep green lights all week, or just one yellow light. Blue stars are for children that are always behaving. I hope all children can have Fun Friday this week.
We need your Mardi Gras beads. Kindergarten will be throwing Mardi Gras beads on Friday, Feb.17 at 1:00 to Pre-K and first grade. This is a good time to clear out those extra beads. Do not buy beads. All children will be given beads to throw. We need parent help earlier that day.
Valentine's Day Party will be on Tues., Feb. 14 at 1:00. Have your child sign their name on the valentines. Do not write who they are for. They are easier to pass out then. There are 17 children in the class. Send me a note if you want to bring a special snack. All candy should be wrapped to send home.
Send a snack every day for your child. A snack can only be bought on Fridays or, they can bring one from home on Friday too.
