I began my teaching career with the 1999 school session. I've taught first
and second grade during my time as an educator. I am currently assigned to
teach first grade at Sixth Ward Elementary in Pearl River, Louisiana. I enjoy
working with students at the lower elementary grade level because I feel that
if a student is to become a successful student they must first learn to love
learning in the early grades. I work hard each day to stimulate and motivate
my students toward a lifelong love of learning.
My mission is to assist my students in becoming a community of productive
workers, ready to fulfill their responsibility to themselves and to the
community in which they will have to work and live. I will do
this by working to improve reading, writing and math skills throughout the
school year. I will also address current events, social studies and science
issues so that my students will become better informed about the world around
them. In this fast paced world that we must live, we are preparing our way by
becoming literate in technology and computer skills. Technology lessons are
intergrated into my daily lessons as well as into the school's curriculum.
I have discovered that we are not only students, we are also teachers. We
learn from those who know, then pass on what we have learned to those who do
not know.
