What type of grading system do you use?

I grade on a point system. Each assignment is worth so many
points. At the
end of the nine weeks all the points earned by the student will
be added
together and then divided by the points possible. The result is
the daily
average.
The daily average will be multiplied by 4 and then the exam
graded added to
that number. The total will then be divided by 5. The result
will be the
grade on the report card.
Example: 900/1000=90% which would be the daily average
90*4=360
360+ 90(exam grade)=450
450/5=90 which would go on the report card.

What if I get home and try to do an assignment and I am totally confused?

CALL ME AT HOME! 985-781-1889. If you call me, I may be able to
get you on
the right track and you can complete the assignment. If I can
not help you
over the phone, you could come in as soon as you get to school
for extra
help. No points will be lost if you do these 2 things. If you
come to
class without the assignment you will be penalized and score a
much lower
number of points.

Do all assignments have to be done?

YES! Those who do not complete the assignments will not only
suffer a lower
grade, but will have to attend my Friday afternoon school session
and finish
whatever they did not complete during the week. Parents are
invited to
attend as well. Test grades are higher for students who do their
work.

Do you assign busy work?

NEVER! Each assignment is designed to reinforce material and
concepts
covered in class and test questions will be generated from that
material.

If absent can I email you the assignment that is due?

YES! If the assignment is an essay or other format that you can
email me,
please do so. Must be in Microsoft Word. It is best not to Get
Behind!

Do you have help sessions?

YES! I get to school about 8 am. Help session starts at 8:15
each morning
except on Make up Day. You can attend the entire session or come
in and ask
your particular question and then leave. The more you read it,
see it, hear
it, the longer and better you will remember the material.

When are Make Ups given?

Make up day is Wednesday of each week starting at 8 am. Only
students
who have an excused absent will be allowed to take a make up.
You must make
up work by the Wednesday following your absence. DO NOT MISS
TESTS! MAKE UPS ARE NOT THE SAME.

Do I need my book in class everyday?

You will not need to bring your textbook to class. Once we start
using The
World Is Flat, you will need that book in class every day. If
you finish
your work early work on the semester project.

What if something happens at home and I am too upset to take the test?

Sometimes upsetting things happen to all of us and we can not
concentrate.
If you have a GOOD reason, talk to me before the class starts,
and I will
let you take a make up on the make up day. This option should be
used only
in extreme situations.

When can I leave the room?

You may not leave the room unless you are called to the office,
have an
emergency restroom need, or I send you to the office. Use the
restroom and
get water before you enter the room.
