Music has been such an important part of my life. I remember when I was a
child. My brothers, sisters and I were always putting on productions for
family reunions and other gatherings.
Although I did well in all of my classes,it was in music class that I felt
excited. I could not wait to go to class.
Music has taken me around the world. I have had the chance to sing and
create music in all of the great capitols of Europe. I have had the chance to
make music with children in Tokyo and I have sang in the great cathedal of
Notre Dame in Paris, France. Of all the great opportunities that Music has
given to me, teaching has proven to be the greatest gift.
I believe that teaching music to children is one of the most important
gifts that we can give. Music plays such an important role in
our lives. We wake up to music. We listen to music on our way to work
and sometimes while we are at work we listen to music. We end our
days with music. We worship with music. We have songs that celebrate
the beginning of life. We have songs that commemorate the
achievement of goals such as weddings, birthdays, graduations and
even death.
We owe it to children to give to them every opportunity that we have
available to us. A child who has music is a child who can make dreams come
true.
