This is my twelfth year of teaching as a highly qualified science teacher.
I returned to Southwood in 2005 to teach physics, chemistry, and help start
up the FIRST robotics program.
My educational philosophy is to foster the student's desire to solve
problems. Problem solving is a life skill. "Learning problem solving
skills requires persistence, risk-taking, and an ability to deal, in a
constructive way, with 'mental disequilibrium'. There is no way to learn
problem solving without actually solving challenging problems."(Boris
Korsunsky)
Students in this class will learn that problems can be solved in many
different ways. They will be able to apply those problem solving skills as
they move on in life.
