It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to St. Clement of Rome's Pre-Kindergarten 4! I am so happy to be your child’s teacher, and I know that you are just as eager as I am to make your child's school experience this year a rewarding one! In order for our class to run smoothly, please follow these guidelines, and do not hesitate to email me or send me a message if you have any questions.
ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL:
- Doors open at 7:40 A.M. Enter the carpool line from Haddon Street onto Era Street. Please do not get out of your car in the carpool line and refrain from using your cell phone. You child will be helped out of your car, so car seats need to be placed on the passenger side. You will then exit onto Art Street. Our school day begins promptly at 7:55 A.M. and ends at 2:45 P.M.
- Children who arrive after the door is closed (7:55 A.M.) need to go to the school office for a tardy slip. Office personnel will then walk your child with the tardy slip back to our classroom.
- If you know your child will not be in school the entire day, please send us a note so that we may be prepared for an early dismissal.
- The same carpool line procedure is followed for dismissal.
HEALTH:
- Children who are ill should not attend school. In the event of a communicable disease, the parent should notify the school as to the nature of the specific disease. A signed note from a physician is required before a child can be readmitted to school after a communicable disease.
SCR FOLDERS:
- The red St. Clement of Rome folder is a very important tool of communication. Folders should be checked daily, emptied, and returned the next school day. All notices will be sent home in this folder.
- Please review all work and/or notes that are sent home. Parental interest is vital to the educational development of your child.
SNACKS:
- Your child must bring a snack every day for our mid-morning break. Snacks should be quick, nutritious finger food that does not make a mess (please no pudding or fruit cups). Suggested snacks include: Cheerios or other cereal, fresh fruit, crackers, cheese, and granola bars.
- Please pack snacks in a baggie with your child’s name clearly marked and keep this separate from your child’s lunch if he/she is bringing lunch from home.
LUNCH:
- Your child may buy a hot lunch from the cafeteria or bring his/her lunch. If bringing lunch from home, please label the lunch box clearly with your child’s name on the outside. No canned soft drinks are allowed; however, milk or juice may be purchased from the cafeteria.
- Lunch will be served daily in the cafeteria. Monthly lunch menus are available for viewing on the school website.
- The cafeteria uses a debit system. Each child will have a lunch number to learn in time. A notice will be sent home from the cafeteria when additional funds are needed in your child's lunch account.
NAP TIME:
- Your child will have a regular nap time every afternoon for approximately one hour. All mats will be sent home on Fridays to be washed and returned on the next school day.
UNIFORMS:
- On P.E. days, girls are expected to wear the uniform shorts and may add tights on cold days. Boys will wear their uniform shorts or slacks on cold days.
- Mark all outerwear clothing with your child's name, especially sweatshirts, sweaters, coats, and jackets. (Use a black fabric marker and names will not wash out.)
- Please refer to the SCR Handbook for other uniform details.
REPORT CARDS:
- Report cards are issued in January after the completion of the first semester and again at the end of the school year. These reports reflect your child's progress in work habits, readiness skills, and social development.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES:
- Parent/Teacher conferences are held twice a year. Each appointment is scheduled for 10 minutes. Also, before each SCR Co-Op Meeting, teachers will be available for brief visits between 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. when the meeting begins.
- Questions about your child’s progress can be emailed to me or sent in a written message anytime.
ALL-SCHOOL MASS:
- Parents are invited to join us and sit with your child. When facing the altar, PreK 4 sits on the far right side of the church (closest to the baptismal font) behind the Kindergarten classes.
- Check the SCR calendar for the dates.
MISSION MONEY and FEED THE HUNGRY:
- Mission money is collected throughout the year. Please place any donations in an envelope marked "MISSIONS."
- Non-perishable food items are collected on the first Wednesday of each month for Feed the Hungry Day.
BIRTHDAYS:
- Birthday treats, napkins, and boxed drinks may be sent to school on the morning of your child’s special day. Suggested treats are doughnuts, doughnut holes, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, or precut cookie cake. In order to protect against food allergies, please do not send any foods containing peanuts.
- If your child’s birthday falls on a day that we are not in school, an alternate date will be selected. June and July birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the school year.
SHOW-AND-TELL:
Details will be given at a later date.
SCHOOL HANDBOOK:
- Each child and parent must sign and return the SCR Handbook Contract found on the last page of the school handbook by Friday, August 19th. The handbook is located on the school’s website (www.scrschool.org) under “Letters, Flyers, and Forms.”
- If at any time you are returning papers through a sibling that are needed by the office, please send a note to let us know.
- Please refer to the school calendar online often for special events, holidays, and other important information.
