Enrichment Activities

 

First Grade Enrichment Program

Bloom’s Taxonomy will be implemented in this enriched program consisting of hands-on activities, projects, and variety of experiences for the students. The class will be divided into two groups to enable increased interaction between students and teachers.

Here are some examples of projects and ideas:

To construct and to identify the sides of a paper butterfly with two math problems such as 6+3 on one wing (outside folded ) and 4+5 on the other wing (outside folded ) and to state the answer in the body of the butterfly which is 9. To design a page of dots and trace a crayon line to connect dots. (two people using two different colors) Word Wall Activity – to identify and to recite a word under the W’s for example (in order) and to trace a colored line from dot to dot when successfully stated the word. The most boxes wins! (KNOWLEDGE)

To identify, to illustrate, to compare and to contrast-- real food vs junk food-use two paper plates and draw items on each plate to recognize the difference between healthy choices and junk food. (KNOWLEDGE) (COMPREHENSION) (ANALYSIS)

To paraphrase a story by using characters, setting, problem, solution (COMPREHENSION)

To create and to design on paper first playground games like 4 square and to draw them on black top outside (SYNTHESIS) (APPLICATION)
