WHO DAT?!

STAR of the WEEK
Please look on my website to see which week your child will be our class
star.  Everyone will have a turn to participate with the week long activities.  I will send home a packet the week before for your child to fill out their stars.  Your child will have an opportunity to share about themselves so please practice at home.  Our favorite part is the SCIENCE ACTIVITY.  YOU  ASSIST with this project during their demonstration.  Please let me know when you plan to visit so I can notify the office.  The SCIENCE ACTIVITY is flexible to accomodate your work schedule.  Thanks for sharing your time with first graders!

WORD LIST
You will find a word list stapled in your child's red folder.
Please review these words with your child as they are necessary
for fluent reading and comprehension .   Word recognition helps
improve reading test scores
.   Mrs. Gay will assess your child's
ability in identifying the words
.  She will invite your child to say these words.  We will start with the 'a list' and quickly move along the alphabet.  Please make flash cards for the words that are difficult for your child.

BIBLE GAME
LUKE and JENNA are our BIBLE CHAMPS as they knew the most verses by heart. We are so proud of them!  Keep up the good work.  We hope to have more winners next time!

ROOM DECORATIONS
Our classroom is looking so beautiful with our RAINBOW SPELLING WORDS and INITIAL ART CREATIONS.  When you visit before the Co-Op meeting you will be able to see all our treasure art work.

MISSION MONEY-- We have a total of $64.98 for the poor. Special hugs to MATT for sharing his hard earned mission money.  Jesus is proud of you, MATT.

FUTURE READING TESTS
Next week is the "Big Blue Ox" test and I will assist the class by reading the test to them.  However, the future reading tests will be taken independently by your child

K4J applications that were sent home in the registration packets.
The first K4J meetings are scheduled for October 11 and 12.
If interested, you can still fill out a form for your child.

GREAT NEWS
Our red folders have been emptied daily and our pouches have 5 sharp pencils.
Thank you for helping your child gain confidence in first grade!

ABC BIBILE VERSES
You might have noticed the bible bookmarks in their reading books.
Our bible bean center will open when we learn more of the verses.
Each bean has an alphabet letter written on it.  A child picks a bean
and keeps it if the verse is said correctly. The child with the most beans---wins!
It is amazing how quickly our angels can memorize these verses.
Ask your child A-D verses.  We learn a few each day.  This is
a fun center to enjoy with your friends.

FEED the HUNGRY is every WEDNESDAY.  Please bring  in
a food item each week.  Thanks!

PATRON SAINT
ST. Elizabeth of Hungary is our class PATRON SAINT.
We will be learning about her life and her love and service to the poor.
Again, your angels have been generous to the missions.
Hugs to JOSHUA,  ANTHONY, and HUDSON for earning money to share with others.
Your angels have so much love to give.

Homework and test schedule is up for TWO WEEKS.  Having this information
ahead of time will make your planning easier. Please check often as occasionally
changes are necessary.

1st Grade Service Project is for the HOLY CHILDHOOD ASSOCIATION.
This will be our LENTEN COLLECTION PROJECT.  More news to come
in the future.  Each class has been assigned a service project.
