Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University
The world's fourth largest collection of bird specimens is housed
in Foster Hall on the LSU campus close to the Dalrymple and
Highland road intersection and the Visitor's Center. Students
may visit and sketch or paint birds. Space is limited.
Museum of Natural Science at LSU
Museum in Ocean Springs, MS dedicated to the work of Walter
Ingals Anderson, a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of
Ocean Springs, MS until his death in 1965. He was a prolific and
eccentric artist whose art work included water color paintings of
local flora and fauna, portraits, linoleum block printing,
historical murals, and clay sculpture that he designed/decorated.

Take a road trip to Ocean Springs, MS just 90 miles East of
Mandeville and just past Biloxi. Shearwater Pottery is a compound
of the Anderson Family. There are several buildings to visit: the
pottery production, the pottery decorating space and the showroom.

Southeastern Louisiana University for junior and senior hight
school students.
Zoom into Photography
Field trips are available for students to tour the collection or
special exhibitions with or without a docent at the New Orleans
Museum of Art. Educators are encouraged to schedule the field
trip with the museum well before the intended visit date.
Information on field trips can be found at this website. It would
be wonderful for the Talented Art students to visit the museum
with their parents also.
