Announcements

   
Dear Parents and Students,
     Thank-you for your support and congratulations on a successful 2011-12 
school year. I am so proud of the 6th Grade Talented Art group and hope you 
were able to see their work along with 5th, and 4th grade in the final 
exhibit in the front of the school which included our 3-D Relief Masks, 
Printmaking, and Flag designs. Good luck 6th grade! All of the student's art 
work and supplies were returned the week of May 7th.  We did an end of the 
year portfolio review and took digital photos of the student's art.  
     I enjoyed meeting many of our new students and families at the Passage 
Days events and meetings.  Welcome new 4th graders and I look forward to 
seeing as many families as possible at our annual Open House.  We will be 
setting our sails for success in Art for 2012-13.
     We had a wonderful 2012 Youth Art Month Flag design exhibit/events at 
Artists in the Capitol Monday, May 7th, 2012.  Thank-you to families who 
were able to participate and I enjoyed very much being there with you.  
Ethan, 4th grade, received an Honorable Mention at the state level.  6th 
graders, Lauren, Grace, Ryan, Erik, and Sydney; and 4th graders, Caroline, 
Carissa, Drew, Ethan, and Jewel, had their flag designs on exhibit.  Visit

     Thank-you for your support with The TMS George Durrett Art Show which 
was March 29, 2012. Congratulations to Sam for winning the best in show for 
middle school! It was great and the community had such a positive 
response. 
     Students had artwork on exhibit December 3-11, 2011 at Barnes and Noble 
in Mandeville.  Thank-you for participating in the book fair event.
All of 6th grade had work on exhibit; 5th and 4th grade had a 
limited number of student work.
     Students had artwork on exhibit at the Three Rivers Juried Art Exhibit 
in Covington November 12-13, 2011.  Congratulations to Sadie who received 
the Michelangelo Award and 1st Place for 4th grade 2-D.  Carissa placed 3rd 
for 4th grade 2-D. Ella placed 3rd for 5th grade 2-D.  Haley received 
Honorable Mention for 5th grade 2-D.  Sam placed 3rd for 6th grade 2-D.  
This work is on exhibit now in the main hall at TMS.

     Art work was submitted by for the PTA Reflections: "Diversity 
Means" theme, 2011-12.   District winners included 6th graders, Camille, 
Excellence award, and Christian, Merit award.
