Dear Busy Bee Bunch-
I am so excited about this school year! We are going to have a blast learning how to read, spell words, learn addition facts, and go on many adventures through science/social studies!!!! I know you were very excited to get your first reading book that you get to take home every night and read!!! Don't forget busy bee's to practice swatting your sight words! The faster you can swat them, the more fluent of a reader you will become! We have had an awesome beginning of the year!!! Keep up the great work Busy Bee's!!! 

Note to Parents:
Please Parents review over your child's 1st grade sight words as well as the kindergarten sight words!!! The faster your child can read them, the more fluent of a reader they will become! I ask that you read with your child every night for atleast 10-20 mins. If you model to them that reading can be fun and interesting, the more your child will be excited about reading. We will start checking out books and taking AR test( reading comprehension test taken on a computer) starting in October! Also I encourage you to practice handwriting at your house (You can find some great handwriting activities at the Dollar Tree)!!!!

Folders:
Red folder- This folder contains your child conduct for the day, homework letter, papers to return the following day, and papers your child completed today! You may wan to review over the papers your child completed and ask them to tell you about what they did!!!
Wildcat folders: This folder contains Graded  papers and important PTA papers that are to be looked at and then returned the following day!!

How to get in touch with me!!!
The best way to get in touch with me is through a note sent in the folder, leaving a message in the office, or sending me an email. I check my email atleast 2 times a day!!! My email is mdquinn@caddo.k12.la.us!!

Once again I am so thankful to have a wonderful group of children and parents this year! I am looking forward to many fun times ahead!!!
