What is proper P.E. attire?
For your child's safety as well as for liability purposes, your child will
not be allowed to participate in PE without the proper footwear. Proper
footwear includes tennis-type sneaker shoes- those with a flat bottom (no
heel) and the foot fully covered. Clogs, sandals, dress shoes, boot-like
shoes, and any heeled shoes are NOT appropriate types of footwear for P.E.
and if worn on the day of P.E., your child WILL NOT be allowed to participate
in P.E. One suggestion to ensure your child is prepared for is, if they have
an extra pair of sneakers they can keep in their locker or classroom during
the week.
Girls are encouraged to wear shorts under their uniform skirts on the days
they have P.E.
Will my child be graded in P.E.?
Your child's grade is based on participation, cooperation, sportsmanship and
skill development. A big part of P.E. is getting along with our classmates.
We do not allow shoving, hitting, or name-calling.
1st through 5th grades will receive a letter grade.
Will my child have to participate if he or she is ill?
If your child needs to be excused from P.E. activities, please write a note
and have your child bring it to the P.E. teacher either at the beginning of
the day or when P.E. class begins. If a doctor limits or restricts full
participation in P.E. , please ask them to be specific as to the amount and
type of activity your child can/cannot do, as well as to specify a date your
child can return to full participation in P.E.
When are the teachers available for a conference?
Coach Douglas and Ms. Buteau are always eager to hear from parents, and
conferences can be scheduled through the office at any time if you feel the
need to talk to them.
Will the girls and boys be separated this year?
Yes. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes will be separated. Although, if the
activity allows it, they will be given the opportunity to play together.
