WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
I have been teaching music for over 30 years and count it a privilege
that I enjoy my chosen profession every bit as much, if not more, than when I
began teaching. I have a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the
University of Houston, with a major in voice and a minor in piano. I taught
in Houston, Texas; Lafayette, Louisiana and Little Rock Arkansas before coming
to Shreveport. I am a member of the local chapter of the American Orff
Schulwerk Association, a music organization which embraces the philosophies of
Carl Orff, musician, composer, educator and developer of an innovative
approach to music for children which combines movement, singing, playing
instruments and improvisation.
My family consists of my husband, Mike, our two children, Matt, Leah,
daughter-in-law, Jennifer and English bulldog, Xander. My hobbies are
reading, sewing, decorating, emailing friends, playing piano and singing. I
sing in my church choir at Summer Grove Baptist Church.
My mission is that my students come to love and find the joy of music in
its many forms, that they develop skills to understand and create music, and
that they discover their own hidden talents.
