I took a make up test 2 days ago but STI Home doesn't show a grade.
Some things to realize about grades in STI:
(1) It takes up to 24 hrs once I enter a grade to see an STI update
(2) I am generally diligent about grading student work; that said, make up work is out of sync and it might be a few days before I can get to it;
If you don't see an update after 4 days, contact me.
I missed a lab - how can I make it up?
Missed labs are often difficult to make up since it involves equipment that may be being used by other teachers.
That said, contact Mr. T. and ask about specific arrangements. A few labs can be made up over a lunch period or two. Some labs require staying after school to complete.
Some labs simply can't be made up for various reasons. In those cases, an alternative lab or assignment will be provided.
IN ALL CASES of missed work, contact Mr. T. for guidance.
Can I do extra credit work to earn grade points?
From time to time I offer opportunities for students to earn bonus points.
Students who have zeros in their gradebook due to incomplete work will not be allowed to earn bonus points until their class work is made up.
How does a parent get on the list to receive texts/emails from the teacher?
My website offers the ability to contact parents via text messages or email to alert them to upcoming assignments in my class.
These updates remind students of homework due, tests upcoming, project work due, etc. I highly recommend parents sign up for this feature as it is a convenient way to stay on top of your child's requirements in this class.
To sign up, simply provide me with your email address or, your cell phone number and your carrier (AT&T, Verizon, etc.) I will add you to the distribution list.
I have a question about my child's performance in class - how do I contact the teacher?
The best way to contact me is by email: john.thacker@stpsb.org
Do not leave any voice mails for me at the school number.
Can parents help with your classroom equipment needs, or chaperone any class field trips?
Absolutely! Parent volunteers are always welcome!
You can find a list of classroom supplies needed on this website (link is on the left side of the announcements page.)
When I announce a field trip, I'll let you know then of chaperone needs.
