Reminder: Read books for the Reading Log!

Bible Memory Verse: Matthew 4: 19”Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

Bible Notes:

1.     The story of Jesus’ life is told in the first four books of the Bible which are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

2.     These books are called the Gospels which mean Good News.

3.     Jesus chose 12 men to be his followers. They were called disciples.

4.     Jesus told them He would make them fishers of me.

5.     Jesus spoke to the people in parables. Parables areshort simple stories intended to illustrate a moral or religious lesson.

6.     Read and discuss the Matthew 13: 1-23

7.     Jesus showed His power during a storm. (Read and discuss Mark 4: 35-41)

8.     Even the winds and waves obey Jesus.

9.     (Read and discuss Mark 5: 21-43)

10. A woman touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and was healed.

11. Jesus said that because she believed her faith healed her.

12. Jesus Raises’ Jairus’s daughter from the dead

Reading Vocabulary on “Have You Seen My Dog”

Vocabulary:

1.     Illustrator- the person who does the artwork in the story

2.     Author- the person who writes a book or story

3.     Office- a place where business or professional duties are conducted

4.     Wonder- a feeling of amazement or admiration

5.     Stalk- to approach in a sly manner

6.     Muffled- to be heard faintly

7.     Squirming- to twist the body in a wiggling motion

8.     Adopt-to legally take into one’s family and raise as their own

9.     Lumberyard- a business place where lumber and other building materials are sold

10. Vacant-empty

11. Gloomy-Partial or total darkness

12. Main idea- the most important idea; what the story is about

Phonics

1.     Sit means to rest or to be seated. Bill will sit in church. Set means to put or place something. I will set my Bible on the pew.

2.     Too means also or more than enough. The soup was too hot. He will go to the party too. Two mean the number 2. For most other meanings use to. Mom will go to the store.

3.     Phrase is part of a sentence. Ex. at the park. A sentence states a complete thought. Ex. I will play at the park.

4.     Practice Charts 11-13
