Dear Parents,

What a great first week we had!  Your children fell right back into their typical school routine and all feel a bit more comfortable in first grade now.  As you can see, we are currently reviewing and building on kindergarten skills.  Work doesn’t appear to be extremely difficult for most students, but if your child is struggling with homework, please let us know.  They may be something we can do. 

By this point, your child

1.             should have ALL THEIR SUPPLIES,  

2.            should have their reading book covered (science book will come home soon to cover as well)

3.            bring 5 sharpened pencils to class daily

4.            bring to class daily their blue folder, reader, math workbook (as of today) and pencil case (this should have been purchase on welcome back day but if not, it is still available for purchase in the office)

Upcoming:

1.                     Entertainment book orders or returned unsold books are due Friday, August 20.

2.                    Father/ Daughter Dance Tickets are still on sale.  The last date to purchase tickets is Wednesday, August 18.

3.                    Please send in $5.00.  This will cover the cost of goodies on every muffin and punch day this year.  This way you won’t have to send in 50 cents each time and risk forgetting.  Please send this in an envelope marked muffin/ punch.

Information regarding tests:

Your child should have their green test folder today.  In it you will find their tests from last week.  As we told you previously, these tests were practice tests only and will not count (although most of them scored perfect on all tests – sorry).  We ask that you review each test with your child, sign the weekly report form (front cover page) and return everything (signed form and ALL tests) in the green folder by Wednesday.  We keep all tests on file to monitor your child’s progress.  If have any questions about a test, simply write a note on the report form in the comments section and we will be happy to answer them for you.
