Dear Parents,
I am looking forward to working with you and your child.
Together we can make this a happy and successful school year.
This is a brief look at the year ahead.
HOMEWORK: Homework will be assigned every night. It is the student's
responsibility to copy the assignments every day. Homework will be posted on
my web page, however, if I am absent or having trouble with the internet you
will have to rely on the assignment pad. Please do not forget to sign the pad
each night.
DISCIPLINE: If a student breaks a class or school rule his/her name will
be put in the conduct book. 5 points will be deducted for each infraction. At
the end of the week, the grades will be averaged for a weekly conduct grade.
In addition students will be able to receive positive reinforcement by earning
stickers for good behavior, good deeds, positive manners, good listening
skills, and reverent church behavior. Rewards will be given for 10 stickers.
TESTS: Math facts test - Wednesday
Spelling test- Thursday
Reading test - Friday
Tests for the other subjects will be posted in advance.
Graded test packets will be given back on Tuesday. Please review these tests,
sign, and return by Thursday.
ARP: Students will be required to read and take ARP tests. Each nine
weeks, 3.0 points must be earned. For those not familiar with ARP,certain books
are considered accelerated readers and have a point value attached. The
student reads the books in class, at home, or in the Library. A computer test
containing 5 or 10 questions will then be taken. Points are accumulated and an
ARP test grade will be included in the reading grade. ARP books can be checked
out from our class library or the school library. Quite a few Scholastic books
are ARP. I would be happy to help you choose these books.
