Students need a binder that allows them to remove/add loose leaf 
paper and remove/add handouts.  I recommend a 1 inch, three tab/ring 
binder that has pockets. Students will also needs LOTS of paper and 
LOTS of pens/pencils.  Periodically, we will use scissors, glue, and 
crayons/markers. I've added a wish list beneath the supply list. A $5 
lab fee collected at the beginning of school will cover the cost of 
equipment and materials ordered from science supply companies (ex: 
water quality testing kits, forensic science samples) and other 
consumable materials used during classroom experiments and 
investigations.
